That belief has guided this firm since the day Tamara and Marty Cain opened its doors, and it guides every plan we build today.
The documents were fine. The relationship behind them was missing.

A different kind of firm, on purpose
Tamara and Marty Cain kept meeting the same heartbreak: families who had done the responsible thing, paid for an estate plan, and still watched it fail. The plans had gone out of date. Assets were never moved into the trust. The law had changed.
So they built something different. Through the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys they adopted an approach that treats estate planning as an ongoing relationship rather than a one-time transaction. They called it Estate Planners for Life™.

The centerpiece of that idea is the Lifetime Protection Plan™, which keeps a family's plan current for as long as they are members. It is the difference between a document and a plan that still works on the day it is needed.
Today that work carries into its next generation. Mitch Janik, licensed in both Oklahoma and Texas and a Certified Three Step Strategy™ attorney, is helping lead the firm forward, so the families we serve are cared for not just for this decade, but for the ones to come. It is planning for life, from a firm built to last one.
The Three Step Strategy
We counsel, then we design
We start by learning your family, your values, and your goals, then design a personalized plan around them. If you teach us about your family, we will teach you about the law.
We keep it current
Life changes. So does the law. Through our Estate Planners for Life™ maintenance membership, your plan is reviewed and updated as your family, your assets, and the rules evolve.
We make sure it works
When your plan is needed, we are there to settle it correctly, guiding your family through administration so your wealth, and your wisdom, reach the people you love.

Our Values
Four words that decide how we treat every family, every advisor, and each other.
Education
So every family can make informed, confident decisions.
Relationship
Built to last, with our clients, their advisors, and our team.
Dedication
To improving our clients' lives and our community.
Integrity
Honest counsel and follow-through, every time.

About Estate Planners for Life
Who we are, how we practice, and why the firm is built the way it is.
How long has the firm been practicing in Norman?
The firm has served Oklahoma families from Norman for more than thirty years, and our office is at 1770 West Main Street. That longevity is part of the point: an estate plan is a promise about a day that may be decades away, and it should be made by a firm that intends to still be here.
What does counsel before we draft actually mean?
It means we do not start with documents. We start by learning your family, your values and what you are actually worried about, and we design around that before a word is drafted. Most families arrive expecting to be sold a set of papers, and the first meeting surprises them, because the questions are about people rather than paperwork.
What awards or recognition has the firm received?
Our firm has been named Best Estate Planning Law Firm in the Norman Transcript Readers' Choice Awards, voted on by readers across Norman and Cleveland County. We are also a member of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. The Readers' Choice recognition is the one we value most, because it comes from the neighbors we serve.
Is estate planning all the firm does?
Yes. We do not take divorce, personal injury or criminal work. Estate planning, trust design, elder and long-term-care planning, and the administration that follows are the whole of the practice, and staying inside that lane is why we can offer a lifetime relationship rather than a transaction.
What does Estate Planners for Life mean?
It is the name of our approach and of our maintenance membership. An estate plan is not a document you sign once, it is a relationship that keeps your family protected as the law changes, your assets grow and your life unfolds. Estate Planners for Life is the commitment to be there for the whole of that, including the day your family finally needs the plan to work.
